Does your ex push your emotional hot buttons? Hot, meaning anger! One reason for divorce is “incompatibility”. In other words you grew apart and things you once thought were endearing now ‘push your buttons‘ and piss you off. Before you know it small stuff that once seemed cute or you were able to over-look becomes a thorn in your side, or like the cowboys say “a burr under yer tail”.
Even years after divorce a few words, a look, or thoughtless action can set off a volcanic eruption of feelings. The emotional hot buttons are simmering!

Annoying habits like leaving the toilet seat up, hogging the tv remote, leaving a mess with no concern or intention of cleaning it up, using your razor to shave her legs or vise versa, eating the last piece of your favorite chocolate bar you were saving for later. You get the picture. Things that only seem minutely annoying at the beginning of the relationship become enormous as tension builds. “Don’t sweat the small stuff” no longer seems possible.
Personal or not, once you become aware of how your emotional hot buttons are pushed and the more you focus on them, the more you notice them. Those buttons just light up faster and faster!
The longer you allow yourself to be triggered and don’t change your perspective the longer it can simmer in your soul. As time passes and those buttons keep getting pushed you add fuel to the fire until an eruption like Mount Helen’s occurs.
You need to shift your perception
Only you can change how you are affected by words or actions. Only You can shift your perception!
There are many techniques, strategies, process for learning to let go. And, trust me when you do learn it feels liberating!
Don’t continue allowing your buttons to be pushed by anyone. Develop skills that allow you to be the magnificent ‘you’ that has every right to shine. Live with happiness in joy. Discover effective methods of communicating and living fully as you were born to live. Destroy the buttons!
